If you are a foreigner who is thinking of buying a property in Italy, do yourself a favour and book a call with De Tullio Law Firm first. Even though I was born in Italy and I speak the language, I think I would have found the process utterly confusing without their support! Estate agents will try to convince you that you don't need a lawyer, and that the "notaio" will do all the necessary checks - however, what they won't tell you is that these checks happen only at the end of the process. By that point, you have spent time and money, and backing out of a bad deal may not be so easy. Working with De Tullio Law Firm will definitely simplify your life and, above all, give you the peace of mind you need to embark on your real estate purchase, safe in the knowledge that someone experienced, who speaks your language (English, French and German), has your back and won't let you get in trouble.

Since Italian property law is different from Belgian law, it’s very important to have trustworthy and competent professionals — and this law firm gave us that confidence. However, we want to point out something future buyers should be aware of: in Italy, some important information — like the exact amount of purchase fees — is only given at the last minute (as the notary is appointed just a few days before the signing). This can be surprising if you're used to more transparency and advance planning (like in Belgium), but it’s part of the local way of doing things, and it’s good to know this from the start. In summary, we highly recommend this law firm and will gladly use their services again for any future steps in Italy.
